Dennis P. O’Keefe
Dennis is a Partner in the firm's New Jersey office. Dennis was born in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1948. He holds both undergraduate (B.A.) and Juris Doctor degrees from Seton Hall University. He is admitted to practice before the Bar in the State of New Jersey (1973), the Federal District Court in New Jersey (1973) and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals (1979) and is a member of the American, State of New Jersey and Monmouth County (NJ) Bar Associations. Dennis began his legal career in the judicial branch of New Jersey government, where he served as a law clerk for judges assigned to civil and criminal matters in the Superior Court. Dennis became associated with the firm in 1989, bringing with him the diverse expertise of a senior attorney with broad experience as an in-house corporate counsel, a state regulator and a prosecutor.

From 1982 to 1989, Dennis was the attorney in charge of publicly traded San Francisco-based McKesson Corporation's New York Law Department. He served as Assistant Secretary and Associate General Counsel to the then $7 Billion corporation and chief counsel to its $1 Billion East Coast drug distribution and durable medical equipment business and its $1 Billion national and international Beverage Group (alcoholic beverage and water companies). McKesson at one time owned McKesson Wine & Spirits Co., 21 Brands, Inc., Mohawk Liqueur Corporation, Carlton Importing Company, Mt. Gay Distilleries, Ltd. and D.R.L. SpA.

Prior to working for McKesson, from 1979 to 1982, Dennis served as the Acting Deputy Director and Acting Director of the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control, where he oversaw a restructuring of New Jersey’’s alcoholic beverage regulatory scheme. Between 1974 and 1979, he was a Deputy Attorney General within the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice. He supervised investigations focusing on "White Collar" crime and Antitrust activities. As a trial attorney, he secured the first jury conviction of a physician for State Medicaid fraud. Besides his well over a decade of experience in all facets of the nationwide administrative regulation of the alcoholic beverage industry, his practice includes corporate governance and business law, employer/employee matters, distribution law, antitrust/trade regulation/unfair competition and litigation management.
